 I think it is important to know how to assess standard of living because it could help with better understanding what a place is like. It also could help you understand what a place is like or what type of people live there. This could help you if you would like to travel or do business in the area. 
Economics and standard of living could be analyzed using the five themes of geography by taking one of the five themes of geography and seeing if any of the different pieces of data that are used to analyze standard of living would fit into a similar category. You also could see of one of the five themes of geography have anything in common with one one of the pieces of data that is used to understand the standard of living in an area. For example human environment interaction is related to life expectancy because it shows if people built hospitals to extend how long they live. Another example could be location and how people have better standard of living in one place than another.
